You will visit the Parrot Clay Lick and one of the most
beautiful natural regions of the Tambopata-Candamo Reserve Zone the Sandoval
Lake. This lake allows for a pleasant look at the magnificence and splendor of
south Peruvian Amazonia.

DAY 1 PUERTO MALDONADO – ETHNO BOTANICAL GARDEN
Reception at the airport and transfer to Wasai MALDONADO Ecolodge at the
banks of the Madre de Dios River. Welcome drink and lodging in
comfortable bungalows with a nice view of the river. Short visit of the
town. Small walk to know the surroundings until lunch. Brief rest. Etno-bothanical
trekking through the jungle. During the walk you will see medical plants,
huge trees and a great biodiversity. Guides will give an explanation of
the tropical ecology and will answer any question. After around two
hours, return to the lodge to enjoy the sunset at the riverbank of the
Madre de Dios River. Free until dinner. Overnight at Wasai MALDONADO
Lodge. (L, D)
DAY 2 PARROT’S CLAY LICK – SANDOVAL LAKE
Early in the morning visit the Parrots clay lick located at 30 minutes
from Puerto in Madre de Dios River, then back to the Ecolodge.
After lunch we will leave and travel for thirty minutes on the Madre de
Dios River, to the access trail to Lake Sandoval, a beautiful typical
rainforest lake. 3 km hike to the banks of the lake. There we will board
a canoe to paddle around the lake enjoying the beauty of the landscape
and observing the wildlife, such as kingfishers, herons, hoatzins (unique
pre historic looking birds) , monkeys, etc. If we are lucky we could see
the family of giant otters which live at the lake. We will have the
opportunity to swim in the lake.
It is time to begin our return hike to the Madre de Dios River to return
to Puerto Maldonado and searching Caymans. There we will stay in the
modern and comfortable bungalows of WASAI Maldonado Ecolodge. After
dinner we will be able to rest or go around the city on foot or on
bicycle. We can enjoy the pool and its cascade surrounded by verdant
vegetation. Rest of the night free to enjoy the night life of this
welcoming city. Overnight at Wasai MALDONADO Lodge. (B, L, D)
DAY 3 TRANSFER OUT
After breakfast we will return by boat to Puerto Maldonado to take our
flight to Lima or Cuzco.(B)
