Botanical Lodge, An ecological enclave
located 80 kilometres away from the city of Iquitos, on the edge of the
majestic Amazon River, in deep primary jungle – an ideal location for
taking hikes to see the local flora and fauna. Our botanical garden has
a huge number of tremendous trees, notably the giant Lupuna or Ceiba, it
also has a number of medicinal plants such as the ‘Sangre de Grado’ –
‘Clavo Huasca’ – ‘Oje’ – ‘Chuchuhuasi’ – ‘Ajos Sacha’ and ‘Uña de Gato’
amongst others, also the hallucinogenic ‘Ayahuasca’. This stunning
environment is complemented by our comfortable set of private bungalows
with en suite, protected from insects and with a relaxing hammock area
perfect for reading. With artificial lighting from 17.30 to 22.00 hours,
the visitor will enjoy a wonderfully comfortable environment that will
make for a greatly enjoyable stay.
Our bilingual guides are experts in the mysteries of the forest and
their personal touch will make your visit to the Amazon Rainforest an
unforgettable experience. The food is regional and varied, we can offer
vegetarian options if necessary (please do let us know). |

FIRST DAY: ARRIVAL IQUITOS
A tour around the centre of the city to get to know the most
significant landmarks, some of which are from the rubber boom (subject
to arrival time) Transfer to the lodge by boat down the Amazon.
Floating houses. Visit the ‘paiche’ farm – the largest fresh
water fish; during the transfer we will note various different
communities on the banks of the Amazon. Arriving to the lodge we
will be welcomed with a local drink and will find our rooms.
Three nights in the Amazon Botanical Lodge with full board. Take
the ‘medicinal plant’ walk and get to know ‘uña de gato’,
‘sangre de grado’ and ‘clavo huasca’ amongst others. Enjoy
spectacular views of the Amazon from a well placed viewpoint and
finish the day with a night walk to see tarantulas, insects.

SECOND DAY: CEIBA - LUPUNA
See the local birds in their natural habitat (by canoe from
November to July or walking from July to November). Take a walk
deep into the jungle to find the giant trees – including the
voluptuous and impressive Ceiba-Lupuna. Take in the local flora
and fauna. Visit to a small zoo to see the anacondas, some
species of monkeys among other animals. Take a night trip in a
canoe around the lodge and enjoy the sounds of the forest at

THIRD DAY: AMAZON - NAPO
After breakfast take a ride to the Napo River mouth. Visit the
‘Canal Pinto’ town (November to June) to get to see the everyday
life of the community. Visit the ‘Orellana’ district, named this
in honour to the discoverer of the Amazon River, 1542.
Observation of the union of the Amazon (brown water) and the
Napo (black water) river, there, we will get to watch gray and
pink dolphin. Recreative fishing of sardines, catfish, and the
legendary piranhas. Lunch on board or at the lodge, is up to the
passenger. Night at Botanical Lodge. (B, L, D)
FOURTH DAY: TRANSFER OUT
Visit the native Yagua tribe and discover their methods of
manufacturing artisan products and their ability with the blow-pipe.
This entire trip will be under the supervision of a permanent
guide and can be personalised according to your needs. We can
also arrange airport transfers if necessary. (B, L)
